Day one of the new desk situation was very successful. Not ONE lost pencil. Not ONE lost paper! Whoo hoo! It does take a little more time for the kids to get things put away and situated, and it is taking some thinking on my part as far as management goes, but so far so good! My room stayed clean and we didn't even have to clean it at the end of the day!
I easily see when students have something they shouldn't at their desk because, really, they shouldn't have ANYTHING. I can nip it quick - awesome. And a funny sidenote: one student decided he would still use the inside of the desk. He just pulled it back, tipped it over, and stuck stuff inside. Oh, children...
